REPORTS
Youth chair Roger advised that he will be going to Canada late June-early July and that he will not be able to collect meals and bread for the Community meal which he does every week. Denis commented that we needed more people on Community Meal roster or at least a back up emergency list. Roger collects meals every week but only Alison and Denis assist him on alternate weeks.
Function Centre Manager Phil requested a meeting of the BBQ trailer committee after our meeting. All members were able to attend except Bob W.
PP Judy, whilst on a well earned break, still has a BBQ Roster list which has a lot of spaces to be filled so please help if you can. It is not expected nor sensible to expect anyone working full time to take time off paid work to assist at weekday events, so please do not feel guilty if you are in this category. Please let Judy know if you can fill a space on the roster.
PP Ian Doak spoke on the Kangaroo Flat Reserve, of which we are Committee of Management. The members must be approved by the Department of Land, Water, Planning and goodness knows what else. The existing Club members were nominated and as there were no further nominations were again elected to that Committee.
Foundation Chair Peter reminded us of the need for $26.50 donations for the Foundation's centenary. He has many in but would like to finalise the matter.
PRESENTATION- SUE BOURKE FREEDOM AGED CARE.
Charlie introduced Sue who gave us a very informative talk on services for the elderly offered by Freedom. They are unique in that they can provide accommodation from good health right through light care, moderate and high care to palliative care and all levels of service can be provided in the one unit, so clients never have to move regardless of their circumstances. .Carers are available 24/7. Units are purchased on a 99 year lease and when no longer required units are refurbished at shared cost with family and sold again with balance going to family. Car parking is available. There are 100 units at Kennington with about 60 occupied. The compound is now locked and occupants have gate codes. This is particularly important to prevent exit of Alzheimer sufferers or ingress of undesirables. Sue left us with brochures etc. On conclusion of her presentation, Sue answered several questions and Peter Spurling presented her with a shopping bag from our Cambodian project as a token of our appreciation..

DISTRICT FOUNDATION GRANT SEMINAR 8 MAY 2017
This was held at our function centre and was very successful. President Jennie welcomed all participants and handed over to the District presenters who gave an informative and interesting presentation on what the Foundation and District can provide. It was gratifying to see 14 of our own members in attendance as well as a further 23 from District and other clubs, a grand total, of 37 attendees.
Congratulations to Foundation Chair Peter and District on their great organisation which made the night a great success.
