Charlie's Chat 9th September
Our Club Meeting on 9th September
At our meeting tonight we welcomed guest speakers Paul & Anne Henshall from the Business Re-Education Centre and Mark Dineen along with Members of our Rotary Club. Best wishes and a speedy recovery for Kaylyn for her upcoming op.
Congratulations go to the BBQ team for last Sunday at the Hockey event - many snags were cooked and handed out along with very generous donations made to the Rotary tin. An outstanding effort. The BBQ team are heading up to Echuca for another big BBQ. Thank you to Noel, Roger & Bob.
Upcoming events on our calendar are two excellent movie nights - the first on October 10th to see "Diana" followed by "Captain Phillips" on 24th October. Times to be confirmed for these events.
Charlie is organising a trip down the road to Macedon to his sons restaurant - travel either by train, bus or car pool. We all recall the excellent meal enjoyed at the change over dinner with more delights to be had on this Sunday lunch on possibly the 6th October. This is one of the dates available. Please let Charlie know if you wish to attend so that he can finalise arrangements.
Our guest speakers talked on their business journey over many years which started in Tasmania with a B&B. The challenges they faced and how they overcame the day to day business adventure. Starting out they failed to do market research, promotions, sales, database management, stock control, put in place processes and delegation. This all changed along with their business. They focused on how to be different - not better or cheaper They introduced Murder Mystery weekend events held to ensure fun and entertainment along with many other ideas.
Following this they returned to Bendigo where Paul commenced as a Business Coach which has taken them on to opening the Business Re-Education Centre. The key to success is to Learn, Innovate, Change and Earn. Keeping up with what is happening, how to promote, etc. Both Paul and Anne are passionate about small business and pass on their enthusiasm and ideas in these tough times for business. Located at 98 Wills Street in Bendigo you will find a wealth of information and support. They draw on past experience of their own business ventures along with Paul who has been a business coach and also training business coaches throughout the Asia Pacific. Paul is heading to Las Vegas in October to train new business coaches from all corners of the globe. Anne has worked in everything from disability services to major events. Anne is currently Marketing Manager for the Capital. For information visit www.businessreeducation.com.au
Have a great week until next Monday
Yours in Rotary - Charlie Bovalino
