At tonight's meeting we welcomed members, partners, guests and visiting Rotarian Phil West.
The trek was over 9 days of mountains, creeks and winding their way along steep cliffs avoiding slipping down the slopes - a rugged terrain with the top of mountains seeming never ending. They enjoyed the companionship of the other trekkers and were engaged with the historical sites along the way. The camp sites were lush and green - cared for by the land owners. Their dinning experiences were far from a la carte, the accommodation less than 5 star. Their back packs were light with porters carrying the bulk of their needs for the trip.
The trek took in 96 klm covered in around 50 hours. Courage and endurance being the qualities needed to make it through. The mateship of great importance knowing that fellow trekkers were also doing it tough. Muscle sore, bruised and feet being damp from wading through creeks and swamps - not exactly a walk in the park. The group ranged from young through to mid 60's, all of varying fitness levels helping each other along the way.
Both proud to have made it to the end but neither considering returning. An experience to be remembered. Congratulations on making it - another item ticked of the bucket list. Like Donna, I was very pleased to have Charlie return to prepare for his year as president.
Below are pictures provided by Charlie - he has many more snaps to share.
Coming up on the 6th June we have the Poysers BBQ organised by Frank. Cluster events include 25th Anniversary of Bendigo Sandhurst and the Charter of the new club.
Have a great week
Yours in Rotary
President Jill
