On the 5th August, our guest speaker was David Hinton.

He is passionate about his role at Crusoe College as Principal and is a visionary of how he sees the college in the future.

David spoke about his 33 years in education and believe that every student deserves a chance. He spoke about real authentic engagement in the Kangaroo Flat Community.

David has spent 2 years working in the United Arabs Emirates in Secondary Education in a schools improvement program with his wife, Sue.

On Monday the 12th August, we changed venues and went to the Bendigo Stadium. Robin de Crespigny gave a thorough background on her book ‘ The People Smuggler’. Robin is a Filmmaker and wrote this award winning book after she began work on a film script about the life of Ali Al Jenabi, an Iraqi refugee who became a people smuggler to get his family to safety. A very interesting talk and many Rotarians, Friends of Rotary and visitors were present for the occasion. The funds raised from the night would be donated to the Rotary Disaster Aid Relief Fund and to Rural Australians For Refugees.
